There’s just a lot to love about the Vickery Creek Trail at Roswell Mill. This five-mile adventure explores the historic Roswell Mill and the surrounding rolling forest. The hike explores the historic remains of Roswell Mill and visits the mill’s spillway dam waterfall on a Chattahoochee River tributary.
The trail network weaves through the beautiful, rolling forest and catches views of the rushing dam waterfall from a steep rock bluff. This amazing trail makes a great in-town hike or moderate trail run. Vickery Creek flows over a rocky, grassy creek bed downstream from the waterfall. The creek’s north bank is a perfect place to relax, soak up the beauty of the falls, and watch for wildlife, including heron and geese.
Gate City Brewing Company
Gate City Brewing is the intersection of Roswell’s history and the future of craft beer culture. The brewery’s two-story space is rooted in the heart of Historic Roswell. What used to be two Roswell mechanic shops is now a brewhouse and a 3,000 sqft taproom serving up to 20 house-brewed beers on draft. Each weekend offers live music, taproom exclusive beers, community-based events, and an overall great time!
This 3.2 mile boardwalk and back trail features a year-round, beautiful view of the Chattahoochee River. The trail is perfect for those of all fitness levels and is primarily used for walking, nature trips, and road biking. Dogs are also welcome to Willeo park which makes this a great trail for dog lovers.
The seven-mile stretch of the Chattahoochee River running through Roswell offers an abundance of trails, water access, riverwalk, and playgrounds. Coupled with the amazing scenery and wildlife, visitors of all ages have a blast as they experience natural Roswell. Nantahala Outdoor Center Roswell offers high-quality rentals for a number of water activities. Locals frequently tube, raft, paddleboard,canoe, and kayak for outdoor fun. A multi-purpose greenway that parallels the Chattahoochee River, and is part of the overall Roswell Riverwalk that runs across Bull Sluice Lake from Azalea Drive to Willeo Road. Outdoor folks are sure to enjoy getting close to the river without getting wet!
Old Mill Park
The Roswell Manufacturing Company Mills can be found along the banks of Vickery Creek. Constructed in 1839 and 1853, these mills were burned in the Civil war and rebuilt in the years after. These mills were known as the Roswell Manufacturing Company.
These mills as well as the iconic waterfall can be seen at the start of the hiking trail. A covered pedestrian bridge over the creek connects the walking trail that begins in Old Mill Park to the Chattahoochee River trail system. The bridge and waterfall are favorite spots for amateur and professional photographers.
The education system in Roswell consistently receives high marks both in the public and private school sectors. Because of the area’s smaller population, schools in Roswell can enjoy a low student to teacher ratio at or below 15:1
Some of the top elementary schools in the area are Mountain Park, Sweet Apple, and Fulton Sunshine Charter. There are two high schools rated in the top 20 in the state of Georgia, including Roswell High School. There are also options for faith-based schooling in the private school sector, ranging from Catholic and Baptist to Evangelical schools.
Some of the larger employers in Roswell include Kimberly Clark Corporation, the City of Roswell, and the WellStar North Fulton Hospital. There are a number of technology firms that are spotted along Route 400 between Atlanta and Roswell. Because of its short distance from Atlanta, many people commute to the city for work. About 54% of Roswell workers experience a commute of less than 30 minutes to their job.
